Marvel Select releases exclusive Hawkeye figure

…and it’s a bit odd.

On Tuesday, Diamond Select Toys officially revealed their new Marvel Select Hawkeye figure “inspired” by the Disney+ Hawkeye series.

Marvel Select Hawkeye

The bad news is that if you were hoping for a version that looked like Jeremy Renner, then you’re completely out of luck. Either Diamond Select didn’t pony up for Renner’s likeness rights or someone in their marketing department decided to really go out on a limb.

The good news is that if you missed out on the modern Marvel Select Hawkeye from a few years ago (that goes for crazy aftermarket prices) then this is your chance to own it…sort of.

Here’s the new one:

As you can see, the primary differences are the hair color (yikes) and long sleeves, which does at least match up with the costume we saw in the Disney+ Hawkeye series.

If you’re going to do a figure based on a media property, however, then why not just go all the way with it? The original version of this figure was great because it looked like Hawkeye did during Matt Fraction and David Aja’s run. This halfway attempt at cashing in on the television series just feels like wasted shelf space–except for Pizza Dog, of course. He’s welcome no matter how many repacks there are. That being said, it would’ve been nice if they got his eye right for this release.

If the sort-of-MCU Marvel Select version of Hawkeye is something you’d like own, the figure will retail for $29.99 and is available now exclusively from shopDisney.com. Check out some more images below!
