Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 04/18/2022

We have a trio of returning shows for our Channel Surfing TV picks this week.

We have a trio of returning shows for our Channel Surfing TV picks this week. The final season of Better Call Saul begins. Prepare for more time shenanigans in a new season of Russian Doll. Then, Cassie embraces her spy side hustle in The Flight Attendant.

It’s All Good, Man

Better Call Saul began as a spin-off and prequel to the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad and in its five seasons so far, some would argue that the series has exceeded its predecessor. How many more people who will agree with this depends on how the sixth and last season plays out.

In addition to Jimmy fully embracing his Saul Goodman persona, there are plenty of loose threads from when we last left off. Nacho is on the lamb and might have both Gus and the Cartel after him. Meanwhile, Lalo is still on the board and planning his next move. Of course, there is also the news of Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul reprising their roles of Walter White and Jessie Pinkman respectively. Will they make appearances in part one? We’ll have to wait and see.

The season six premiere of Better Call Saul is tonight on AMC.

From Time Loop to Time Travel

In the first season of Russian Doll, a young woman named Nadia is stuck in a time loop where she repeatedly dies but returns back at the same exact moment during her birthday party. Things take a turn when she crosses paths with a gentleman who has a similar experience but with a different starting point.

In the new season, the time theatrics are taken to another level with Nadia and Alan traveling to different eras via a subway to help settle some unfinished business. New additions to the cast this go round include Annie Murphy, Sharlto Copley, and Carolyn Michelle Smith.

Binge the entire second season of Russian Doll beginning Wednesday, April 20, on Netflix.

A Trip You’ll Never Forget

Although the source material was only a single novel, The Flight Attendant plots an all-new season. After helping solve the murder of Alex Sokolov, Cassie is recruited by the CIA as one of their assets. Because of her jet-setting occupation, she can visit various locales with out rousing suspicion while also getting close to people of interest.

Cassie seems in a better place now but following an assignment in Germany that goes awry, she finds herself in another stressful situation. The mental toll causes her to escape inside her mind and converse with different versions of herself. If that weren’t enough, a meeting with her estranged mother, played by Sharon Stone, could push her closer to relapse and instability.

The first two episodes of the new season of The Flight Attendant will be released Thursday, April 21, on HBO Max.
