Comics legend Neal Adams passes away at age 80

One of the most influential comic book artists in history has passed away.

Neal Adams, one of the most influential comic book artists of all time who has been enshrined in multiple halls of fame for his work spanning over 60 years, has died of complications from sepsis, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 80 years old.

Adams co-created several classic Batman rogues, such as Man-Bat, Jon Stewart, and Ra’s al Ghul. He was known for his photorealistic style that helped usher in a more grounded era for comic books.

Major names in the comic book industry took to Twitter to express their condolences and share memories of Adams.

“Comics would not be the same without the influence of Neal Adams,” Marvel editor C.B. Cebulski wrote. “Devastated we lost the legend. My deepest sympathies to his family, friends and fans. He will be truly missed.”
