Daredevil to return in new Disney+ series

…and he may have some Netflix alumni joining him.

On Thursday, Joe Otterson of Variety exclusively revealed that Disney+ will be producing a new series featuring Daredevil. Matt Corman and Chirs Ord (Covert Affairs) have been tapped to write and executive produce.

While Otterson’s report didn’t mention anything about Charlie Cox returning to the role of Matt Murdock, it’s a pretty safe bet he will — especially after his appearance as the character in Spider-Man: No Way Home (and that a lot of us would riot if Disney tried to replace him).

While everyone was losing their minds about Daredevil returning to the MCU (myself included), you may have missed that Michael Colter posted a picture with Krysten Ritter to Instagram with a tantalizing caption:

L.C. + J.J. = Big Tease #marvel #thedefenders #lukecage #jessicajones

So yeah, this is really happening. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, though.

Once Vincent D’Onofrio showed up in Hawkeye, it proved that the Netflix characters weren’t just going to be multiversal cameo fodder for the MCU films. That being said, this is a decision that was never in doubt from a business standpoint.

With the exception of Iron Fist, Marvel’s Netflix shows were very good — especially Daredevil. Once the television rights reverted back to Disney, there’s no way the company wouldn’t at least try to capitalize on properties that are already well established and have strong fanbases.

We also already knew Charlie Cox wanted to come back. Now there appears to be confirmation that Michael Colter and Kyrsten Ritter do, as well. Let’s hope this leads to them all appearing onscreen again together soon.
