Get the ‘BioShock: The Collection’ for free on PC

‘There’s always a lighthouse. There’s always a man. There’s always a city.’

The celebrated BioShock series has been made completely free for PC this week on the Epic Games Store. As part of Epic’s “free game of the week program,” players can download the entire collection including BioShock, Bioshock 2, BioShock Infinite and all the single-player DLC free of charge.

BioShock as a series has been a landmark in the gaming world, particularly for its narrative complexities and immersive gameplay. BioShock 1 and 2 take players to the underwater city of Rapture and explores the downfall of a utopia. The third game, BioShock Infinite, is much more of a thematic successor to the first two and immerses players in the flying city of Columbia.

Where would modern gaming be without Big Daddy?

These entries blend the first-person shooter genre with RPG elements and a driving narrative that makes for a unique experience. Intrinsic to the BioShock series are philosophical and moral quandaries that pervade the stories and give a deeper tinge to the experience and elevate how gameplay and narrative intermingle. Particularly the ending of the first BioShock has reached an almost mythic status in gaming history.

This remastered collection updates all three games for higher resolutions and adds new textures. If you’ve somehow never played these landmark games, or just want to revisit, there’s never been a better time.
