Courtesy of Z2 Comics we have a first look at Patrick Kindlon and Goran Gligovic’s Self Defense Family: Run the Dungeon. You likely know Kindlon best as the vocalist of bands like Drug Church and Self Defense Family, as well as the writer behind comics like Frontiersman, We Can Never Go Home, and S.H.I.E.L.D.: Secret History.
Teaming up with Gligovic, the graphic novel is about a cynical indentured servant named Relst who is cursed to wander underground caverns. It’s a blend of punk misanthropy through a filter of nostalgic D&D anti-escapism. Gligovic nails the gloomy immensity of the setting.
Kindlon said in a statement sent to AIPT, “Self Defense Family is about exploring for exploration’s sake. Sometimes we hit a musical pile of loot, other times we’re speared by lizardmen. It’s dungeon crawl music.”

Relst is just your average young man. Except he is stuck in an Endless Dungeon. Follow him as he “adventures” through the Dungeon hoping to escape to the surface world. Run the Dungeon is for fans of witty fantasy adventures everywhere. Includes a soundtrack from Self Defense Family.
