The upcoming live action film adaptation of the classic ’60s TV show, The Munsters, is no longer a property of Universal. The film has now been bought by Netflix and is scheduled to be released this fall.
The film’s director is certainly no stranger to spooky content, but he is a stranger to family-friendly spooky content. Rob Zombie is known for outlandish R-rated horror films such as House of 1000 Corpses, Halloween, Halloween 2, and The Devil’s Rejects. It’s yet to be seen whether or not this kind of content is something Zombie is able to pull off.
The teaser that was released a little over a month ago was far better received than the recent trailer that dropped this past week. A film’s trailer certainly doesn’t mean the film itself will be either be good or bad, but many viewers were none too pleased with what they were presented with.
What’s interesting is that even those that I’ve seen trashing it have admitted they will be tuning in so I doubt Netflix will have to worry about viewership.
One thing is absolutely for sure: there will be no shortage of camp in this Halloween flick.
I also know that this is sure to be a highly anticipated aspect of our 31 Days of Halloween celebration later this year.
