The Root had the scoop today that Miles Morales: Spider-Man is getting a new creative team, with Cody Ziglar set as the main writer. Joining him is artist Federico Vicentini with Miles Morales: Spider-Man relaunching with a new #1 this December. Ziglar takes over after Saladin Ahmed revealed in July he’s departing the series. Ahmed took over the series in December 2018.
Ziglar shared his excitement over Twitter earlier today. So what are we in store for with Ziglar penning the series?
“He’s done super cool multiple dimensions, but let’s just take him down to the street level guy, and also give him a new mentor,” Ziglar said to The Root. “Peter has been there a lot for him…I wanted to bring him a new Black mentor. I really wanted to pair him up with a Black street level character. That’s the story that I want to tell because I’m a big fan of the apprenticeship and the mentorship.”
Federico Vicentini was recently announced as one of Marvel’s Stormbreakers, who also drew last week’s Wolverine #24.

There’s still one more issue Ahmed will be writing yet to be released, with Miles Morales: Spider-Man #42, an extra-sized issue set to release on September 28th, 2022.
