Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection reveals

There are many Star Wars Black Series items, but most are reissues and repaints.

On Saturday, Hasbro concluded the second/final day of PulseCon 2022 with a slate of reveals for the Star Wars Black Series (6″ scale) and Vintage Collection (3.75″ scale toyline). Let’s take a look at what was shown and hinted at during the panel starting with the Vintage Collection.

The following figures will retail for $24.99. They’re available now for preorder from your preferred retailers with expected arrival in May 2023.

Cassian Andor (Andor)

Not a figure that interests me yet, but it does look really nice.

Vel Shartha (Andor)

Same deal with this character/figure. That said, I could easily see her becoming a fan favorite if Andor keeps ramping things up the way the series appears to be. Also, that portrait could use some work before the figure hits store shelves.

Hunter (The Bad Batch)

The following figure isn’t available yet for preorder, but Hasbro better make sure there’s plenty of stock when there is — we’ve been waiting to get this figure on this scale for a while.

FINALLY! Really wish they would just reveal the whole team at once, but at least we’ve got the ball rolling with a great-looking figure. It’s expected to be available in Summer 2023.

The final Vintage Collection reveal might be the most unique/fun troop builder pack ever released — especially if you’re a musician.

The Modal Nodes (Catina Band) Set

Although I could only find individual promo shots for six figures, this pack actually has seven Bith figures rocking out on some fantastic instrument accessories. It’s also priced at $89.99 (plus taxes and shipping), making each one cost around $13. Considering how cool/unique this set is, that’s a pretty good deal.

The Modal Nodes set is a Hasbro Pulse exclusive. It is currently available for preorder, with expected arrival in April 2023.

Vintage Collection Pipeline Reveals

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection reveals

  • ROTJ  Redeemed Vader (Nice)
  • ROTJ Wooof (Also nice and definitely one I need for my Barge)
  • ROTJ Saelt-Marae/Yakface (Already have, but glad for folks who need him)
  • ROTJ Nikto Skiff Guard (Same deal here)
  • ROTJ Klatoonian/Kithaba Skiff Guard (The last one is still good, but an update couldn’t hurt)
  • ROTJ Weequay (YES YES THANK THE MAKER YES!!!)
  • ROTJ Endor Bunker Playset (Will have to see the inside before making a decision, but definitely a cool idea)
  • Book of Boba Fett Tusken Warrior (Must buy)
  • Bad Batch Howzer with the correct name/card (Does this make my Ballast figure more valuable?)

Now let’s check out what was revealed for the Star Wars Black Series toy line. The following figures will retail for $24.99 and are currently available for preorder for your preferred online retailers. They are expected to arrive in August 2023.

Cassian Andor (Andor)

This is definitely a better deal than the exclusive Andor/B2EMO 2-pack. It also looks really good.

Bix Caleen (Andor)

The character has barely made enough of an impact thus far for me to want a figure of her. That said, it does have a nice sculpt/portrait.

Luthen Rael (Andor)

This figure, on the other hand, has quickly begun to grow on me. Customizers are also going to love having such a good Stellan Skarsgård head to buy at retail.

Mon Mothma (Andor)

Good lord, that’s a great figure. I had planned to completely skip anything from Andor, but this one might have to be the exception,

Axe Woves (The Mandalorian)

Star Wars Black Series Axe Woves Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection revealsHasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection reveals

It’s nice that they’re rereleasing this figure, considering how hard it was to get. As for me, I’m still trying to get this guy in the Vintage Collection — not sure I like the character enough to overpay for a 6″ scale version, too.

However, if you want one, the figure is available now for preorder with expected arrival in March 2023.

Next are a plethora of repaints/updates to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi. The figures will retail for $24.99 and come in oversized retro packaging. They are expected to arrive in stores in April 2023.

Biker Scout (Endor)

Bleh.

Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard)

Unless I’m missing something, this figure is exactly the same as the Black Series Archive Series figure that’s readily available just about anywhere. The only reason to pick up this version is the packaging.

Han Solo (Endor)

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection reveals Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection revealsHasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection reveals

The facial portrait might be a little better than the previous release (along with the cape), but not enough to overpay for this edition.

Princess Leia (Endor)

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection reveals Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection revealsHasbro PulseCon 2022: Star Wars Black Series and Vintage collection reveals

On the other hand, this one definitely sports a better portrait than the previous release. Enough to replace it, though? That’s an admittedly tough call, but not enough to make me pay more for extra packaging.

Excited yet? If not (which is entirely understandable), the Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary Black Series figures featured at least one new character to the line.

Wicket (Endor)

I’ve never been interested in Ewoks in this scale, but this is a great release for those who are. It’s also nice that Hasbro tried to make up for a small full price figure by providing a bunch of cool weapon accessories. It’s still too expensive, but at least the company showed some awareness of creating value for their customers.

Black Series Pipeline reveals

  • ROTJ Jedi Redeemed Vader (Meh)

  • ROTJ Imperial Guard (Already got mine, but glad for folks who need this one)
  • Book of Boba Fett Pyke Trooper (Nice)
  • Book of Boba Fett Cad Bane (I like my Clone Wars version just fine)
