WWE Extreme Rules 2022 preview, full card, predictions

WWE gets extreme this Saturday at Extreme Rules in the birthplace of Extreme, Philadelphia. Extreme!

WWE presents Extreme Rules this Saturday, both the first edition of the event to take place in October, and the first one to take place on a Saturday. And perhaps most excitingly, it’s the first Extreme Rules in over a decade where every match on the card has some sort of a stipulation! Roman Reigns’s Undisputed WWE Universal Championship won’t be on the line, as he’s busy preparing for Logan Paul at Crown Jewel, but there will be plenty going down in Philadelphia this Saturday that’s worth tuning in for.

How to watch WWE Extreme Rules 2022

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 will be streaming live on Peacock in the United States and on the WWE Network in the rest of the world.

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 date and start time

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 will take place Saturday, October 8, 2022 starting at 8pm ET.

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 card and predictions

The Brawling Brutes vs. Imperium (Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook Match)

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 preview, full card, predictions

Shane: Since I think that Gunther is retaining his Intercontinental Championship on Friday, I’m going to predict that the Brawling Brutes win on Saturday night. The Brutes, especially Sheamus, are incredibly over and strong babyface win is necessary at this point.
Winners: The Brawling Brutes

Patrick: I’m with Shane. I don’t think it’s time to take the Intercontinental Championship off of Gunther yet, despite Sheamus’s late-career resurgence. This Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook match taking place the next night is a good way to give the Brutes a win without derailing what should be a long reign from the Ring General.
Winners: The Brawling Brutes

Edge vs. Finn Balor (I Quit Match)

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 preview, full card, predictions

Shane: I might have fantasy overbooked myself out of my original prediction here… but I am going to go with Finn Balor. Hear me out, a couple of months ago, there was a huge tease when Beth Phoenix showed up to save her husband Edge from a beat down from The Judgment Day. And that’s all that happened. Nothing was mentioned again. Then, Monday night, Edge referenced how much his family means to him and how they hate to see his body taking the physical toll that it has been since his return. So, I think Judgment Day, because of the numbers advantage, will use Edge’s family against him to coax him into saying the words ‘I Quit!’.
Winner: Finn Balor

Patrick: The Judgment Day have finally found some sort of an identity and have built some momentum since Triple H took over the show, but now it’s time to put their money where their mouth is and give them a big win over the Rated-R Superstar. I find it almost impossible to imagine a clean win from Balor here, so I do think that Shane is onto something when it comes to Beth being involved. I picture Rhea Ripley threatening to do something heinous to Beth, forcing Edge to give up…and then she does it anyway.
Winner: Finn Balor

Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross (Strap Match)

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 preview, full card, predictions

Shane: Triple H gets it. He knows what it takes to create new, credible threats. He knows that if the returning Karrion Kross is to have any sort of redemption and credibility moving forward, he is going to have to win in his first major match since returning to the company. Even though I’m predicting that Drew loses this match, this will in no way be a squash. Both men will have a tremendous night, but in the end, Karrion Kross will have his arm raised in victory.
Winner: Karrion Kross

Patrick: Just like with the Judgment Day, if we want Karrion Kross to be taken seriously as a main eventer, he’s gotta win here.
Winner: Karrion Kross

Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley for the Raw Women’s Championship (Ladder Match)

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 preview, full card, predictions

Shane: Bayley. Bianca has done great in her reign as Raw Women’s Champion, but it’s time to drop the belt to Bayley. Bianca has done pretty much all there is to do as Raw Women’s Champ which also makes a Bayley victory seem like the right thing to do. Open up a whole new set of feuds and stories moving forward with Damage CTRL front and center.
Winner: Bayley

Patrick: Yeah, it feels like it’s about time to let somebody else run with the Raw Women’s Championship at this point. Bayley was one of the unsung heroes of the Pandemic Era, and was never really properly rewarded for it. A victory Saturday in a hard-fought ladder match is just the thing to correct that – and take Damage CTRL to the next level.
Winner: Bayley

Matt Riddle vs. Seth “Freakin’” Rollins (Fight Pit Match)

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 preview, full card, predictions

Shane: I’m not sure how this one is going to go. I could see either man winning this match, but I am going to go with Seth Rollins. Riddle is fine and all, but Rollins needs to be built back up. I would love to see him win this match and possibly continue the momentum to defeat Bobby Lashley on Monday for the US Championship.
Winner: Seth “Freakin’” Rollins

Patrick: I don’t see Rollins losing in what is being billed as Riddle’s home turf, so to speak – especially since UFC Hall of Famer and fellow mixed martial artist Daniel Cormier will be serving as the guest referee. I don’t think this will be the last we see of Cormier, but I also don’t think a heel turn his first night on the job is in the cards, either. Cormier ensures Riddle gets the victory, and then the story can move onto the next phase.
Winner: Matt Riddle

Liv Morgan (c) vs. Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship (Extreme Rules Match)

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 preview, full card, predictions

Shane: Unfortunately, in my opinion, the Liv Morgan experiment has failed. She has never quite recovered from the SummerSlam fiasco. Yet, on the other hand, Ronda hasn’t been more over since she first arrived in WWE. Not that I want to see Ronda as SmackDown Women’s Champion again, but I’d rather see her win than continue with Liv on top.
Winner: Ronda Rousey

Patrick: Liv Morgan winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship was a feel-good story, but I think it’s run its course. Liv is a textbook example of a babyface being better during the chase than as champion. Give the belt to Ronda, have her and Shayna fully team up and start running roughshod on the SmackDown women’s division as they should have done years ago.
Winner: Ronda Rousey
