Saraya has been officially cleared to wrestle by AEW’s doctor Michael Sampson, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The news is somewhat surprising, given Saraya has said in the past that she spent the better part of a year trying to find a doctor who would clear her for in-ring action. But after a short few weeks under AEW’s employ, she has found one.
Saraya, as Paige, suffered a neck injury at a WWE house show in December 2017 that ultimately ended her in-ring career until now. She officially announced her retirement on April 9, 2018’s edition of Monday Night Raw.
On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Saraya got physical for the first time in years, delivering a superkick to Rebel.
AEW hasn’t been shy about using her neck injury as a storytelling device, as Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. has been taunting the women’s division’s newest recruit and her supposed inability to compete in the ring. It seems logical now that all of that will lead to a feud and ultimately a match between Saraya and Baker.
