We’re back with another edition of Fantastic Five, where we give props to the very best comics of the week! This week saw an even split between the Big Two, as Marvel and DC each took two spots in the top five. Rounding out the list is a riveting series conclusion from BOOM! Studios. Let’s take a look:
Once & Future #30
Once & Future has been a hell of a ride—it was one of the first books I reviewed for AIPT, and I remain proud of what I’ve written about the series. Mora and Bonvillain made the mystical kinetic and thrilling. Kieron Gillen pushed his ongoing exploration of the whys that drive folks in an intriguing direction. It’s been a blast and a pleasure to dig into their craft, and I’m delighted that Once & Future‘s ending matches the fine work this team has done since go.

Daredevil #4
Don’t miss out on this issue that sets the stage for the new era of Daredevil. I am so surprised by the events here, and that they didn’t use this in the milestone #1 or #650 issues. Zdarsky has taken us through hell – what’s next? It starts here!

Batman, Incorporated #1
If you’re looking for a globetrotting series of superheroes, Batman Incorporated is all that and more. Brisson and Timms are firing on all cylinders with a robust cast of characters that economically give us a taste from everyone while progressing a plot that intriguingly ties into Ghost-Maker’s past. The fact that his same past also includes Batman is the cherry on top of a series that is sure to be a huge hit for fans of big team books.

Superman: Son of Kal-El #16
Superman: Son of Kal-El delivers on its promise to bring back Kal-El while affirming Jon Kent’s incredible heart and caring for everyone. For those reasons, plus some slick art as usual, this is a good issue that shouldn’t be missed as we transition to a new direction for Jon Kent’s Superman.

Venom #11
Venom #11 continues to alter what we know about Symbiotes, especially modern characters like Sleeper and Dylan Brock. Venom is one of the best mind-bending sci-fi horror stories on the stands today.
