On Monday, Diamond revealed a new Black Panther figure for its 7″ scale Marvel Select toyline.
Right off the bat, I think we can all agree that the Vibranium base accessory looks awesome. Unfortunately, that might be the best thing about this item.
For starters, the paint scheme just looks weird. I get that Diamond was going for a look from the comics, but it’s not translating well here — thanks in no small part to the poor detailing on Black Panther’s thighs and knees.
Also, I understand the need for synergy and all that, but maybe this wasn’t the best time to release a comic version of T’Challa. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever may be hitting theaters in less than a month (November 11), but the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman means the character won’t even be in the film.
What would have been really cool is if Marvel Select released a comic version of Shuri in her Black Panther costume. I’m not a marketing expert or anything, but I’d bet that would sell a lot better than this.
If you want this Black Panther figure, however, then it’s available now exclusively from ShopDisney for $29.99.
