Marvel Legends: Hasbro reveals grossly overpriced ‘Ronan’ figure

Hasbro raises the price of their “deluxe” Marvel Legends from $29.99 to $38.99 in one year.

On Monday, Hasbro revealed a new upcoming figure of Ronan the Accuser in his Jack Kirby-inspired look from the comics. Before feasting your eyes upon this hunk of plastic, please keep in mind that it appears to be made with mostly reused parts.

So yeah…a nice-looking figure. It’s also an Amazon exclusive, meaning that anyone who wants one should be able to get one. You just have to be willing to pay a whopping $38.99 before taxes.

Unfortunately, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has gone full steam ahead with his plan to increase the company’s revenue by 50% over the next three years via price gouging. And lest you think the “price gouging” accusation is hyperbole, the Thanos figure pictured below came out in 2021 and retailed for $29.99. Inflation does not account for a 30% price increase for a product with fewer accessories, duller paint apps, and reused parts.

If you want to help Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks in his quest to bleed existing customers dry, then Ronan will be available for preorder from Amazon on Tuesday, December 13 with an expected arrival in Spring 2023.
