Welcome back to another edition of Fantastic Five – the second to last edition of 2022! This week saw plenty of great DC action (I’m talking to you, Nightwing fans), an eXcellent Annual, and a great new indie debut. Let’s get right to the countdown of the best comics of the week!
#5: Nightwing #99
Nightwing #99 is jam-packed with action and adventure that makes it an enjoyable book from start to finish. With seeds planted for the next big arc, readers should buckle up because it seems things will only get more exciting from here. We’re only one issue until the 100th issue of Nightwing, and Taylor clearly has plans for the far future that will keep the series interesting.

#4: Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7
Nightwing fans won’t want to miss Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 as it is a huge character moment for the character. Legacy and darkness will be challenged in the DCU, and we will see the outcome with this conclusion. Joshua Williamson and Daniel Sampere, along with an All-Star lineup of talent, deliver a show for the ages for the future of all worlds.

#3: Dead Seas #1
Dead Seas is an intriguing start to a world where ghosts are real, and someone uses prisoners to profit from them. Relatable in a world where for-profit prisons are putting prisoners in danger, the science fiction element and deep character work play out in an exciting and intriguing story. Intelligent, creepy, and well-told, you will be fascinated with Dead Seas.

#2: X-Men Annual #1
X-Men Annual #1 is a great one-shot that develops a character while reminding us of the robust life the X-Men lead and the larger universe of it all with non-mutants too. Expect a lot of story and meaningful character development for Firestar.

What an issue! Mark Waid and Dan Mora are setting up some heavy developments here, as it seems the Joker is shaping Boy Thunder’s future. Get ready for a jaw-dropping last page, as you will see just what can happen in the DCU. Just imagine!
