Back in September, Universal Pictures released an unnerving teaser for Knock at the Cabin, an upcoming horror/thriller film based on Paul Tremblay’s exceptional 2018 novel, The Cabin at the End of the World.
On Christmas, Universal Pictures gifted us with a full trailer for Knock at the Cabin that gives a significantly better outline of the story.
This time around, much less time is spent showing us the blissful family dynamics between Eric (Ben Aldridge), Andrew (Jonathan Groff), and their daughter Wen (Kristen Cui). Instead, we immediately see them being menaced by a quartet of armed intruders led by a man named Leonard (Dave Bautista).
According to Leonard, the family must choose one of their own to be sacrificed to avoid the end of the world. When Eric and Andrew attempt to dismiss Leonard’s story as the ravings of a madman, news reports and other occurrences indicate that there may be some truth to the horrible proposition.
If you’ve read the book, then many of the scenes hinted at in the trailer appear to be following the source material very closely…which means we’re likely in for one heck of an emotional rollercoaster on screen.
Knock at the Cabin debuts in theaters on February 3, 2023.
