ONE:12 COLLECTIVE Alien looks and feels real

The materials and body on the ONE:12 COLLECTIVE Alien are so good you might think this action figure is real.

When Mezco Toyz sets its sights on a licensed property, it’s well worth checking out since they create genuinely unique action figures in their ONE:12 Collective line. Shipping now is a new Alien action figure which doesn’t use the usual cloth materials since the Xenomorph doesn’t wear clothes, but he does have a fleshy exterior. For that fleshy material feel, the new One:12 Collective Alien action figure is worth checking out for super fans.

The first thing you’ll notice when cracking open the packing on the ONE:12 Collective Alien action figure is the fleshy rubber feel of the action figure. This thing feels a bit creepy, in a good way, and the materials used to look great with any type of lighting. Details on the body are great, and that’s not easy to do, given the dark color of every inch of this figure. The most remarkable thing may be the head, though, which is semitranslucent. It further gives the action figure a fleshy look that’s realistic and not another piece of plastic on your shelf. Mezco calls the body a “Protein polysaccharides exoskeleton,” and I believe them.

Further detailed and well-made is the tail on the Alien. This tail moves wonderfully with the ability to bend into any shape or position. Mezco doesn’t list a number for the points of articulation, but the tail alone could feasibly be infinite. There are no visible joints on the figure, as it’s all under the rubber body. The jaw also opens wide, allowing for the mini-mouths that pop out.

That may be the weakest element of this action figure, though. The legs allow for many positions, with the figure wanting to crouch more than press into any position. It’s a bit of a disappointment, but given how well-made and good this looks, it’s easy to forgive.

Accessories include six interchangeable hands, one Ovomorph egg open, one Ovomorph egg closed, a Facehugger coiled, a Facehugger open and extended, a Chestburster slithering about like a snake, an interchangeable chest plate, and the usual One:12 Collective base and display post. The Ovomorph eggs are sturdy with a decent weight to them, so much so they could be used as paperweights. The detailing and paint details are great on these and all accessories. There are also three inner mouths giving you the option of a drippy biting mouth, an extended mouth lacking ooze, and a closed mouth.

The Alien One:12 Collective action figure is a well-made action figure, particularly the rubber look and seamless armor/skin of the Alien. This thing looks and feels realistic. Paired with the inner mouths, the Facehugger, and two Ovomorph eggs, it has everything you need to proudly pose on the shelf.

The translucent head is incredible
Great details in the Facehugger and eggs
