A new cosmic form melding life, death, and romance is introduced in ‘Strange’ #5

Something new is made of two realms of magic in ‘Strange’ #5.

Spoilers ahead for Strange #5. You’ve been warned.

Strange has been an epic series, to say the least revealing Clea as a worthy Sorcerer Supreme. The series has introduced new characters like Harvestman while pitting them against a threat like no other: Undead demon Sentry!

In the latest issue, however, it’s introduced that a force for good may be more powerful than anything and, thus, impossible to defeat from a super-Sentry, let alone a cosmic force.

The identity of Harvestman has already been revealed–check out writer Jed MacKay’s thoughts on him here–and that includes his identity being revealed to Clea, and it’s none other than Doctor Strange. The true love of Clea, both get beaten to a pulp in Strange #10.

In fact, it looks like it’ll be curtains for them both until Clea does the unthinkable and kisses Harvestman, aka Stephen Strange. Harvestman is the Sorcerer Supreme of death and the undead, thus making their kiss dangerous as she is the Sorcerer Supreme of life. It turns out, their deep connection includes a literal bond of their souls, thus protecting them.

And thus, they don’t die or hurt anyone in the process of connecting, but instead turn into something great.

No cosmic deity name is given, although when asked what Clea/Strange are the answer is “Strange.” So maybe that’s their cosmic name? That said, one will notice the visual connections to Eternity from the cosmic space making up their body to the collar.

Thus can surmise when life and death combine, it equals Eternity, aka the embodiment of Earth-616 and everything in the dimension. Neat idea!

What do you think of Clea and Harvestman combining, is this “Strange” creation the strongest thing in the universe? Let us know in the comments!
