On Tuesday, Jesse Scheden of IGN.com exclusively revealed that Hasbro will be releasing a figure based on the original comic version of Yondu.
If you’re mostly an MCU fan or only recently began reading Guardians of the Galaxy comics, then you might be a bit confused. Those versions of Yondu have a distinctly redneck vibe that this one certainly does not. The version pictured above first appeared back in 1968 as part of the original Guardians of the Galaxy from 1,000 or so years in the future.
The universe that team inhabits has since been categorized as a different reality entirely (Earth-691), but it doesn’t change the fact that this fella is the OG Yondu. He also makes for a pretty cool-looking figure with some decent accessories.
If you want one, then there’s bad news and (sort of) good news. The bad news is that it’s a Target exclusive. The good news is that it doesn’t come with the obscenely inflated price point that most exclusives from Hasbro are sporting these days. Instead, it clocks in at the regular (still far too expensive) MSRP of $24.99.
The figure is expected to go up for preorder sometime this Spring.
