‘Star Trek: Picard’ season 3 trailer: It’s fight or die for the old crew of the Enterprise

Picard gets the Star Trek: The Next Generation gang together for one last voyage.

Star Trek: Picard is set to return soon for its third and final season. During last night’s AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals, the show’s official trailer was released. As we learned from the character portraits at San Diego Comic-Con, the band will be brought back together with several characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) appearing.

The latest trailer revealed two new additions to the cast. First is Ed Speleers (Outlander, You) who will play a series regular that aids Beverly Crusher’s medical efforts on worlds Starfleet has forgotten. The other is Todd Stashwick (12 Monkeys, Riches) who will have a recurring role as captain of the U.S.S. Titan. They join previously announced Amanda Plummer and Daniel Davis who play the new villain Vadic and the returning Professor Moriarty respectively.

In this season, the titular character receives a distress call from a friend from the past which leads to a dangerous mission. Picard recruits allies, both old and new, to help him on one last adventure that has the potential to change the Federation forever.

The TNG actors set to star include LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner. Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd are returning cast members. Season three will consist of 10 episodes, which will be released weekly.

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. For the latest season, Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin are executive producers with Matalas serving as the showrunner.

Star Trek: Picard premieres Thursday, February 16, on Paramount+.
