Get ready, Tarnished, to journey back to the Lands Between.
Gamers woke up to exceptional news today. From Software announced the Japanese Studio is currently developing an expansion for Elden Ring titled Shadow of the Erdtree. They didn’t supply any other details, but, based on the image shared, it seems plausible the expansion will take place after the main game’s conclusion. Kotaku wonders if Shadow of the Erdtree will center around Miquella, Malenia’s slumbering twin. Centering Shadow of the Erdtree around Miquella would be an excellent way to learn more of the Lands Between’s history and Miquella himself, whom we don’t get to really meet in the waking world.
Elden Ring was easily the game of 2022. It sold 20 million copies since its launch a year ago and took home numerous game of the year awards. I personally loved all 100 hours I spent with the game, naming it my choice for 2022’s game of the year and calling it From Software’s “crowning achievement.”
Shadow of the Erdtree is confirmed to drop on last gen as well as the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Check out the official announcement below.
