‘Top Chef’ season 20 Power Rankings: Week 4

Top Chef hits the pitch for a football inspired elimination challenge.

Last week, we watched two talented contestants leave Top Chef. It made everyone take the competition even more seriously since it was such a minor mistake that caused the elimination. That just inspired them all to be more focused for their next challenges.

In the quickfire, Padma introduced famed pastry chef and chocolatier, Paul A. Young, as the guest judge. The contestants had 45 minutes to create two different biscuits: one savory and one sweet. It would be up to them whether they would use one dough and split it or make two completely different biscuits. Time would be a factor if they decided to go the latter route.

Afterwards, maybe because the stakes are so high, Top Chef gave everyone a break for the night. They used that time to enjoy a nice dinner and learn even more about each other. They would need that rest because the next day would test their endurance.

It was time for the annual sport gimmick elimination challenge. Since it was held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they drew inspiration from the English Premier League and it’s relegation system. The contestants divided themselves into four teams of three.

The first round consisted of two head-to-head matchups with the winners safe and the losers moving on. Round two would be another matchup between the losing teams with once again the winners safe and the losers advancing to the final round. Teammates would become their opponents as the three remaining chefs competed against each other with the loser being eliminated. Unfortunately, they didn’t know about that final catch and some paired up with their friends.

After the elimination and Last Chance Kitchen, our Top Chef Power Rankings would see some movement.
