Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 04/03/2023

We have three different kinds of comedies for our Channel Surfing TV picks this week.

We have three different kinds of comedies for our Channel Surfing TV picks this week. Hit the road with Lil Dicky on the third season of Dave. Josh and Melissa enter a new era of musicals in Schmigadoon! season two. Finally, a road rage incident turns even uglier in Beef.

Looking for Love

The star of Lil Dicky just keeps on rising to the point where he’s now ready for his first ever tour. He’s grabbing the whole gang together to hit cities all across the country for his “Looking for Love” tour. Who knows, he might also get lucky and actually find what he’s supposedly searching for.

As he travels the United States, he and his friends learn how diverse the nation really is. Also, it wouldn’t be a season of Dave without some high-profile guest stars. This season, expect to see Usher, Rick Ross, Demi Lovato, Don Cheadle, Machine Gun Kelly, Megan Fox, Killer Mike, Travis Barker, and more.

Watch the two-episode season three premiere of Dave Wednesday, April 5, on FXX.

Looking for Magic

Josh Skinner and Melissa Gimble went on a backpacking trip together to help salvage their romance. In the end, they were able to do that in the town of Schmigadoon, which greatly resembles a Golden Age-style musical of the 1940s and 1950s.

The couple once again find themselves in a lull in their relationship and hope a return to Schmigadoon can rekindle their fire. However, when the try to visit the quaint town, they are magically transported to a darker and sexier city of Schmicago. We’re taking another step in time since this season will parody musicals of the 1960s and 1970s.

The first two episodes from season two of Schmigadoon! will be released Friday, April 5, on Apple TV+.

Looking for Revenge

Speaking of Dave, one of its former writers, Lee Sung Jin, has a new series coming out. If that name sounds familiar, it might be because he has taken up writing duties for Marvel’ upcoming film, Thunderbolts. But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves and focus on Beef.

It stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong who play a failing contractor and an unfulfilled entrepreneur respectively. One day, a road rage incident between the two strangers leads to a bitter feud that begins to consume their lives.

Stream the entire first season of Beef beginning Thursday, April 6, on Netflix.
