On Tuesday, Hasbro revealed a pair of new action figures for the Star Wars Black Series and Vintage Collection toylines. I’ve been on a bit of a positivity streak of late when it comes to Hasbro’s offerings, but this week’s items may have brought that to a screeching halt.
Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Luke Skywalker (Jedi Academy)

What we should be focusing on with this figure is the nice-looking tunic, especially the softgoods portion. Unfortunately, my attention keeps coming back to Luke’s perpetually stunned expression. Maybe this is just an issue with the prototype that will be resolved. If not, then perhaps this figure should be placed next to something you shouldn’t get close to — like the jar of M&Ms my mother-in-law keeps refilling every time she visits.
The figure will retail for $16.99 and be available from most major retailers. It goes up for preorder on Wednesday, April 5 at 1:00 PM EST with an expected arrival this Fall.
Star Wars: The Black Series Black Krrsantan

When this figure was initially revealed on CBR, they listed the retail MSRP as $39.99, which likely would’ve caused me to have a stroke. The price was later corrected to $33.99, but that’s still not much better.
Yes, the figure is a huge improvement over the recent comic version (although that isn’t saying much). But it still only comes with one accessory. Considering that other “deluxe” figures like Wrecker and Saw Gerrera are showing up on clearance aisles, this one will likely meet the same fate.
If you want the figure at full price, however, it will be available for preorder on Wednesday, April 5 at 1:00 PM EST with an expected arrival this Winter.
