Rebecca Henderson to portray live-action Vernestra Rwoh in ‘The Acolyte’

The character will help bridge the High Republic era and the Rise of the Empire.

While we got a good deal of information about The Acolyte and the show’s panel during Star Wars Celebration, the role of one of its stars was revealed elsewhere. At the end of the High Republic publishing panel, showrunner Leslye Headland appeared to announce that her wife, Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll), would portray an older version of Vernestra Rwoh on screen.

The news was confirmed and elaborated on by Bryan Young at /Film, who revealed that a picture of Henderson as Rwoh was also shown at the panel — something that the rest of us who couldn’t make it over to London will get to see soon. There have been some leaks posted online in a few places, but we would obviously never post a link to one of those.

Rebecca Henderson to portray live-action Vernestra Rwoh in 'The Acolyte'

Folks reading the High Republic books/comics right now are very familiar with Vernestra Rwoh, who is basically a Jedi prodigy. She was knighted at the age of 15, making her one of the youngest Jedi ever to achieve that rank.

The Acolyte will act as a bridge between the High Republic era (which takes place centuries before The Phantom Menace) and the fall of the Republic. A report from Variety confirms that the series will focus heavily on the rise of the Sith.

The Acolyte is schedule to debut in 2024 exclusively on Disney+.
