The biggest new video games releasing the week of 4/24/23

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Spring is the air, and the outside world beckons with warm weather and sunshine. But that’s not going to stop gamers from staying in and checking out some new games! 2023 has gotten off to an excellent start for video games, with hits like the Dead Space remake releasing alongside indie gems like Season: A Letter to the Future. This week looks to continue that trend with some wonderful new video game releases.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (4/28)

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor picks up five years after the first game, Fallen Order, and sees Cal Kestis still on the run as the Empire continues its purge of Jedi across the galaxy. He’ll be joined by new allies, face off against new enemies, and visit new worlds throughout the game. Cal can dual wield lightsabers in Survivor and can obtain a heavier lightsaber with a crossguard to take down opponents in addition to using new force abilities.

Desta: The Memories Between (4/26)

Platforms: PC, Switch

Desta: The Memories Between was released by Netflix on mobile last fall and lands on PC and Switch this week. It’s a turn-based strategy game that takes place on various surreal worlds as Desta explores her memories through dreams. The special Dream Team edition packages together the complete game (with new game modes), a digital artbook, and the game’s soundtrack.

Strayed Lights (4/25)

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

Guide and help grow a spark of light toward transcendence in Strayed Lights. It’s an atmospheric action-adventure game that takes a wordless approach to storytelling, letting its visuals, score, and gameplay tell the story. You’ll encounter lights who have lost their way and help them get rid of the corruption plaguing them and the world at large. Gameplay consists primarily of parrying enemy attacks until you can launch a final, cinematic blow.

Afterimage (4/25)

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

Gorgeous hand-drawn 2D metroidvania Afterimage drops this week. You’ll journey to a ruined ancient city to uncover its secrets and learn why civilization has almost come to an end. Afterimage features fast-paced combat, a variety of builds, and a non-linear world to explore.

Bramble: The Mountain King (4/27)

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

With an impressive art style and well-placed lighting, Bramble: The Mountain King features a dark and frightening world. You’ll play as Olle, a young boy who is attempting to rescue his sister from a troll. It features various creatures from Nordic fables, and Olle will have to be careful to know when to hide, approach, or run from them, because they can be deadly.

Also worth checking out: Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed, Roots of Pacha, The Last Case of Benedict Fox, and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
