Hasbro Star Wars: May the 4th Vintage Collection and Black Series reveals

Hasbro might actually be turning things around with their Star Wars toylines.

On Wednesday, Hasbro Pulse held a livestream in honor of this week’s celebration of May the 4th. If you thought the company was going to take a break from revealing new items after the last month of announcements, then think again.

We’ll kick things off with the Star Wars: Vintage Collection reveals. All of the items below will go up for preorder on May 4 at 1:00 PM EDT unless otherwise noted.

Luke Skywalker & Grogu

Although this carries the Vintage Collection’s “deluxe” $27.99 price tag, it’s still a great set that comes with a lot of cool accessories. I know some folks don’t like this new Luke Skywalker, but I’m really digging it — especially since Hasbro appears to have fixed the facial portrait so he doesn’t appear to be in a state of catatonic shock.

Unfortunately, this one’s a Target exclusive. If you’re like me, that means skipping the preorder and taking an in-store sighting as a sign to buy it.

The set is expected to arrive in stores this fall.

Grand Inquisitor (Obi-Wan Kenobi)

Yes, the head shape is off compared to how the character should’ve looked based on his appearance in Star Wars: Rebels. But you can’t fault the design team for that — especially when they absolutely nailed how this guy looked in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

And even if the live-action translation continues to be a sticking point, there’s no denying that this is an absolutely superb action figure on its own merit. As a fan of both shows (and the character), there’s no way I’m not picking up one of these.

The figure will be available from most major retailers with an expected arrival this fall.

Wicket and Kneesaa

Even as someone who’s an admittedly easy nostalgia mark, I’ve never felt any attachment to the old Ewoks animated series. The figures look nice, but the set clocks in at a whopping $36.99, which is absurd for two undersized figures.

And no, the stupid coin doesn’t add enough value to justify the price.

If you want this one, however, it will be a fan channel (i.e. toy-focused online stores) with an expected arrival in spring of 2024.

Pipeline Reveals

None this time, but we did learn that the next Vintage Collection HasLab will officially launch at San Diego Comic-Con this July.

Now let’s take a look at the Black Series reveals. All of these will also be available for preorder on May 4 at 1:00 PM EDT unless otherwise noted.

Gaming Greats Darth Malgus

Just when I think I’ve almost got my Black Series purchases finished so I can stop collecting the line, Hasbro has to go and release a phenomenal figure like this and pull me right back in. Even with the $33.99 price tag, not buying this one is going to take a great deal of restraint.

The figure will be available from Amazon and fan channel retailers with an expected arrival this fall.

Ahsoka (Padawan)

Yet another Black Series figure that I absolutely must have on my shelf. We’ve gotten multiple great Ahsoka figures already, but this one is fantastic — especially for fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It will also retail for $24.99, which is still too high, but an easier pill to swallow than $33.99.

The figure will be available from most major retailers with an expected arrival this winter.

The Mandalorian (Glavis Ringworld)

There are probably very few people reading this who need another 6″ scale Mandalorian in their collection. That being said, this is arguably the best one Hasbro has ever made.

The figure will retail for $24.99 and be available from most major retailers. It is expected to arrive in Spring 2024.

Chewbacca (Return of the Jedi)

Finally, a figure I can pass on. This one’s good if you still need a Chewbacca for your collection, but nothing worth getting excited about. It will retail for $24.99 and be available from most major retailers with an expected arrival this winter.

Magna Guard (Clone Wars)

OH C’MON!

It’s like Hasbro knows every time I officially declare myself done with the Black Series. I mean, how can you not buy at least two of these? Not only do they look great, but the articulation appears to be superb.

The figure will retail for $24.99 and be available from most major retailers with an expected arrival this winter.

Gaming Great General Grievous (Battle Damaged)

Even though I haven’t played Star Wars: Battlefront II (where this version of the character appears), I know an awesome figure when I see one. The $33.99 price tag is a bit of a deterrent, but my Grievous shelf will literally have no more room if I’m adding two 6″ scale Magna Guards.

Or I could just pretend that I have way more restraint than I actually do. Whatever the case, at least we can all agree that it’s nice to see windowed boxes start getting phased back in.

The figure, which is a GameStop exclusive, is expected to arrive this winter.

Wicket

If you’re going to charge $24.99 for an Ewok, then it better come with a marimba of Stormtrooper helmets as an accessory. If you don’t mind being ripped off, however, this figure will be available from most major retailers with an expected arrival this winter.

Phase II Clone Trooper

I really don’t have any more room for 6″ scale clone troopers. If I did, however, this vastly improved sculpt would be a definite buy.

The figure will retail for $24.99. It will be available from most major retailers with an expected arrival this winter.

Arc Trooper Fives

Although it wasn’t shown during the livestream, Fanthatracks was able to reveal the Black Series Arc Trooper Fives figure — which is really nice. It’s also a bit pricy ($27.99) and a Hasbro Pulse exclusive, so you’ve got plenty of reason to give this one a pass.

The figure is expected to arrive this fall.
