This week, Hasbro revealed a new Marvel Legends 5-pack featuring comic versions of the West Coast Avengers. It will be an Amazon exclusive and retail for $124.99.
As I said with the other Marvel Legends reveal this week, $25 per figure is still too high, but it’s noticeably lower than what we’ve seen this year. If this set has been released in 2022 (or even a few months ago), it would’ve cost at least $140.
Let’s take a look at the offerings and see if this one’s worth adding to your toy shelf.
Spider-Woman (Julia Carpenter)
This is by far my favorite character from the set. I’m fine with my 2019 release, but at least this gives other folks at shot at getting her.
Tigra
I actually like the other version better, but I’m probably in the minority.
Hank Pym
Let’s just be honest here — if the figure wasn’t named, none of us would know it was Hank Pym. That’s not because Hasbro did a terrible job or anything — the character just doesn’t look very remarkable or distinctive when he’s not in costume.
Customizers could have a field day with this one, though.
Iron Man
Not a fan of this look no matter how good the figure is.
Mocking Bird
I already wasn’t thrilled with the way this figure turned out due to the knee joints and that horrifically visible label on her right leg. But then Todd Ortiz (aka Rektangular) jumped pointed out how hard Hasbro whiffed at giving us a truly authentic ’70s/’80s Mocking Bird (language warning):
So yeah…not a bad set, but not a great one, either.
If you’d like to secure one for yourself, it is currently available for preorder with an expected arrival this fall.
