Marvel Comics revealed earlier the X-Men ’97 Variant Cover for the X-Men:Hellfire Gala #1 by artist Dan Veesenmeyer. On the cover is our first full look at Sunspot (Roberto da Costa) from the new main cast. ‘Beto (as familiar fans call him) was shown in his training uniform in full power mode during last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con. Check out the reference below:
Now, we see him in his student street wear with a fly looking track jacket and slick high tops. The appears to be a move to keep him on the same level as Jubilee – a younger mutant in regular clothes at Xavier’s Institute. Sunspot is a character originating from The New Mutants. He first appeared in Marvel Graphic Novel #4 (a graphic novel on The New Mutants prior to their ongoing series) in September of 1982. X-Men ’97 has not revealed a release date as of yet, but we sincerely hope we get new information this July at San Diego Comic-Con.
X-Men: Hellfire Gala 2023 #1 is written by Gerry Duggan with art by Kris Anka, Joshua Cassara, Russell Dauterman, Adam Kubert, Pepe Larraz, R.B. Silva, Luciano Vecchio & more. The comic is on sale July 26, 2023. Find a local comic shop near you with www.comicshoplocator.com
