The Top Chef competitors were as excited for the change of scenery from London to Paris as they were to be in the finals. What better place to start than in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower, the site of the very last quickfire of the season.
One star Michelin chef, Greg Marchand, welcomed everyone alongside Padma. For the quickfire, they would perform another infamous Top Chef challenge: the wall challenge. The contestants talked a mystery person behind a wall through a dish and the pair would be judged on how close their food was both visually and in taste. This would require both good communication and patience to be successful. In the past, the person on the other side was a loved one. This time around, since Paris is the host city of the 2024 Olympics, they were American Olympians and Paralympians.
For a ticket to cook for the title of Top Chef, the final four were given three hours to create a Michelin starred dish highlighting the Champignon de Paris, or button mushroom. The kitchen they cooked in was on board the Ducasse sur Siene, a fine dining tour boat owned by renowned chef, Alain Ducasse. What better way to determine if a dish is worthy of a Michelin star than to serve it to diners composed of Michelin star chefs including Marchand, who would serve as the guest judge again.
Check out who survived to compete in the finale and where they stand in the Power Rankings.
