Spring is the air, and the outside world beckons with warm weather and sunshine. But that’s not going to stop gamers from staying in and checking out some new video games! While The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has drawn most everyone’s attention this year, June still has plenty of exciting new releases to play and fall in love with.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Dordogne (6/13)
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Dordogne is a beautifully hand-painted narrative journey set in the French countryside. You’ll play as Mimi, who ventures to her grandmother’s home after her passing. She’ll reflect upon childhood memories and uncover family secrets. Much like Season: A Letter to the Future, Dordogne asks you to take your time enjoying its setting and to record its world. You’ll collect stickers, take photographs, and craft poems to fill up Mimi’s binder and document her childhood summer in Dordogne.
Fall of Porcupine (6/15)
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Don’t be fooled by its colorful aesthetic and cute characters — Fall of Porcupine is a unique and harrowing game about the rigors of the healthcare system. You’ll travel to the town of Porcupine as Finley, a resident new to Porcupine. He’ll get to know the town’s occupants, their day-to-day struggles, and their secrets. It’s a heavy-hitting game as Finley’s time in Porcupine will touch on themes of mental health, illness, death, grief, and, of course, the unfair healthcare industry.
