Players trying to log into World of Warcraft this evening may find themselves unable to do so, and players who are logged into the game are finding strange lag with systems such as the Auction House and Group Finders. Oddly, players who are currently logged in are also reporting that they are able to log out.
Blizzard has acknowledged the issues, tweeting that they are “currently investigating an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts.”
There hasn’t been any confirmation about the cause of the authentication issues, so we are not sure if it’s another DDoS attack or not. Blizzard’s servers have been the targets of multiple DDoS attacks over the past couple of months.
