The biggest new video games releasing the week of 7/31/23

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

The Summer of Gaming gave us plenty of excellent video games to look forward to this year and next, but let’s not forget about the games you’ll be playing sooner rather than later. While The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has drawn most everyone’s attention this year, this summer still has plenty of exciting new releases to play and fall in love with.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Venba (7/31)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

Prepare delectable dishes, recreate lost recipes, and succumb to all your feels in Venba. The point-and-click, narrative-focused game from Visai Games follows an immigrant family as they grow over the years. With its warm art style and Tamil-inspired soundtrack, Venba will make you feel like you’re back in the kitchen with your own family. Tiny Thor (8/3)

Platform: Switch

Tiny Thor hits the Switch this week after releasing for PC in June. The 16-bit platformer stars everyone’s favorite God of Thunder and his trusty hammer, Mjölnir. It’ll feature engaging platforming, challenging environmental puzzles, and unique boss fights worthy of a (tiny) god.

Baldur’s Gate 3 (8/3)

Platform: PC

After three years in Early Access, Baldur’s Gate 3 releases in full this week on PC. Promising 80-100 hours of gameplay (and that’s on the short end!), Baldur’s Gate 3 will bring the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop experience to video games. It’ll include 11 races, 12 classes, several companions to befriend, over 600 spells and actions, co-op multiplayer, and that bear sex you’ve been hearing about. PS5 players will have to wait until September 6 to check it out, while a troublesome Xbox Series X/S version is still in development without a release date.
