Marvel Comics released a cryptic teaser earlier this week that had very strong Spider-Man: Reign vibes, but now it’s all but confirmed a sequel is in the works. Fans of the original series will have to wait, though, as Marvel revealed the sequel won’t hit comic shops till 2024.
Outside of Kaare Andrews returning for the sequel, little is known about the project. I recommend checking out Amazing Spider-Man #31, which features a lead-in to the upcoming sequel. It features Kingpin heavily and the brooding Spidey from the original series.
The now infamous miniseries by Kaare Andrews featured the death of Mary Jane who, spoilers, died of cancer brought on by exposure to Peter’s radioactive semen during intercourse over the years. This detail is, of course, not what the entire series is about, but it’s certainly a sticking point as far as fans who disliked the story.
The news also came with new art, which very clearly shows Mary Jane on Spider-Man’s back. Check out the teaser art below.
