Rose City Comic Con 2023 comes to Portland in less than a week

In less than a week Portland’s very own annual comic convention, Rose City Comic Con, is returning to the Pacific Northwest’s City of Roses, and AIPT will be there! Heading into its 11th year, Rose City Comic Con is one of the PNW’s largest comic conventions, and this year includes iconic celebrity guests like Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, and the cast of Critical Role.

RCCC “is produced locally with a weird and wonderful vibe that is unique to the Pacific Northwest,” and takes place Friday, September 22nd through Sunday, September 24th at Portland’s gorgeous Convention Center. Featuring a stunning artist alley with local and critically acclaimed artists, RCCC also boasts a ridiculous amount of cosplay meetups, amazing panels, and excellent video and tabletop gaming content.

Personally, I cannot wait to spend hours in Artist Alley, appreciating the amazing work of talented local Portland and PNW artists. Artist alley will also host beloved comic creators like Brian Michael Bendis (Secret Invasion, All-New X-Men), Greg Rucka (Stumptown, 52), Kelly Sue DeConnick (Wonder Woman Historia, Captain Marvel), Phil Jiminez (Wonder Woman Historia, New X-Men), and truly so many more. Other creator highlights include the iconic cover artist David Talaski, A.L. Kaplan, creator of the fan-favorite new DC hero Circuit Breaker, and David F. Walker, writer of the acclaimed Bitter Root.

There are numerous panels throughout RCCC’s 3-day weekend that will inspire and delight, as well as fun events scheduled like the annual Cosplay Competition, a Drink-and-Draw, and plenty of niche meetups. Panel highlights include “Usagi Yojimbo: Journey to 40 Years and Beyond” on Saturday, featuring Usagi Yojimbi’s creator Stan Sakai, and “Wonder Woman Historia: Creator Spotlight” on Sunday, featuring almost all of the creators behind the iconic limited series.
