Welcome back to another edition of Fantastic Five, where we shout out the very best comics of the week! This week, three different publishers released a comic that received a perfect 10 from our staff. Let’s take a look!
#5: Batman #138
In the grand scheme of Batman and in-canon developments, seeing how Zdarsky disassembles the character is getting exhilarating. It may be painful to see him fight his sidekicks, but it’s happening due to Bruce going solo and refusing help, which could lead to new and exciting stories. For a character over eighty years old, that’s a rare thing, and this is a series to keep an eye on.

#4: X-Force #45
X-Force #45 ends up being a surprising pivot from what came before. The Fall of X has turned things upside down for the heroes and villains and it’s fun to see them race to gain the upper hand in this issue.

#3: Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville #2
All around, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville #2 is a love letter to ’80s comic books in the best way. #2: Doctor Strange #8
To cap it all off, the story ends with a drastic cliffhanger, one which will surely have massive repercussions in issues to come. This makes for a perfect issue that hits on all the right beats as the tension continues to bubble to the brim. This makes for a great story that readers will enjoy as there is a lot of payoff to everything thus far. Altogether, Doctor Strange #8 is another spectacular entry in a strong series.

#1: Transformers #1
Listen, you there. That’s right, you reading this. I want you to read this carefully and picture these words in your mind. You understand? Good. Pick. Up. This. Book. It’s everything I wanted in a new Transformers series, going back to the core strengths of the franchise, the mechanical lifeforms learning and changing through their interactions with humanity, with amazing artwork and engaging writing and pacing. Pick it up. ‘Nuff said.
