Happy Black Friday, and welcome back to another edition of Fantastic Five, where we shout out the very best comics of the week! This week, DC knocked it out of the park with two brand-new #1s. Let’s take a look at the books!
#5: Wonder Woman #3
Wonder Woman #3 continues to show this series is one of the best superhero comics on the shelf. It does everything a modern superhero fan wants, from incredible art, to ties to modern-day threats, to an ongoing story that brings something new to the character. Wonder Woman is can’t-miss superhero comics.

#4: Universal Monsters: Dracula #2
We’re only two issues in, and with so much more story still to unfold. And yet I feel like we’ve already had quite the full body experience. That speaks volumes about Tynion and Simmonds’ connection to this story and their painstaking efforts to deliver a version of it like few others before. It’ll terrify and titillate in equal measure, and if you can commit fully to this “process,” then you’re bound to get caught up in the dark magic of it all. Otherwise, you’re missing out on a faithful and forward-thinking take on vampire lore and what these stories really say about us all.

#3: Batman: Off-World #1
Batman: Off-World #1 is the weirdest, wildest Batman book in a long while, and it’s worth the read. Jason Aaron’s DC debut is off to a good start, and judging from the final page Batman’s prepared to take on anything and everything – no matter what galaxy it comes from.

#2: Hack/Slash: Back to School #2
Hack/Slash: Back to School‘s second issue improves on its already strong first. I’m excited to see what Thorogood will do with the mini’s back half.

#1: Titans: Beast World #1
From start to finish, Titans: Beast World #1 feels like the start of an epic event. The buildup to this story in the mainline Titans issue, although not needed, certainly helps explain why this event is happening in the first place. However, this issue could be read on its own and be a very captivating story. For the Titans’ first event, the pressure placed on them is felt from the start. The Justice League isn’t going to save the day. With that, the story genuinely feels more interesting, as we’ve had a fair amount of Justice League events in the past few years, because of the added pressure.
