Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero announced at The Game Awards

The Budokai Tenkaichi series lives on in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

After being teased earlier this year, Bandai Namco formally announced Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero tonight at The Game Awards. It’ll be the fourth entry in the Budokai Tenkaichi series (known as Sparking! in Japan) and first since 2007’s Budokai Tenkaichi 3.

The brief clip shows Goku and Vegeta sparring before transforming into their Super Saiyan Blue forms. Notorious planet killer Frieza joins on the fray to — you guessed it — blow a whole in Namek while Broly and Vegeta show down. The 3D action is quick, bright, and highly kinetic, just like the earlier Budokai Tenkaichi entries of yesteryear.

Several characters flash on screen before the trailer ends, like classic Z Fighters Krillin, Piccolo, and Tien. Dragon Ball Super Tournament of Power antagonist Jiren is also showcased as well as Bergamo, the wolf-man fighter from Universe 9. The Budokai Tenkaichi series is known for its expansive character lists, and Bergamo’s inclusion in the trailers hints that Sparking! Zero may also have a robust roster.

While no release date was given, you can expect Sparking! Zero to land on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Check out the announcement trailer below.
