[Sundance ’24] ‘Dream Creep’ review: Bloody short delivers

Did you hear that?

Dream Creep is a short film screening at the Sundance Film Festival that tackles a fear that many people can relate to. Everyone has been through the experience of laying in bed at night and hearing a strange sound. Is it the house settling or just the wind? Do you get up to investigate?

Writer-director Carlos A.F. Lopez takes things to the next level. A couple are sleeping when David (Ian Edlund) wakes up to hear a weird noise calling to him. It is not long before he is faced with a horrific decision that will save the life of Suzy (Sidney Jaye Hunt) who remains peacefully asleep next to him.

Dream Creep is a tension filled watch centered around the choice that has to be made. It is a familiar horror premise used to perfection. Is David really hearing something or is something much more sinister at play? Everything leads to a bloody ending that is dark and satisfying.

The Sundance Film Festival takes place from January 18, 2024 – January 28, 2024
