Mezco ONE:12 COLLECTIVE Doctor Doom review

Witness a new Doctor Doom action figure made of real metal and with tons of accessories.

Shipping now is the $155 ONE:12 COLLECTIVE Doctor Doom action figure, which is a hefty price but also packed with accessories. It’s also made of titanium, making it one of the most legit Doctor Doom action figures ever. Let’s break it down and see if it’s worth the extra cost!

First, this figure, like all Mezco ONE:12 action figures, has great packaging. Everything is snugly packed in a cardboard box, with efficient placement of the stand, accessories, and action figures. The figure is also protected with plastic around the neck and behind it so it can’t be damaged in transit.

The action figure has your standard points of articulation, and he’s sporting a faux leather costume. This figure shockingly feels hefty in your hand thanks to the metal parts, which can be found on the limbs and the back of the head. The cape is also magnetized, making it easy to pop off or pop back on. On the back are two plastic pieces covering holes where accessories can be plugged in.

Doctor Doom also comes with one additional head that is scarred. The other head is not scarred. To complete the looks he’s got four masks total, and each one clasps onto the head perfectly. The scarring is a little weak–traditionally he’s horribly disfigured–but at least they tried.

Overall, the figure itself is excellent, and I can’t say enough about how awesome the metallic feel and weight adds to the overall value.

Mezco didn’t skimp on the accessories. There are 13 hands, plenty of energy effects, and a Cosmic Power Siphon Harness with a light-up function. Yes, Mezco also supplies batteries for the Siphon Harness. The Siphon Harness also comes with a hologram screen, amplifying it a touch. If you’re not feeling the Siphon Harness, you can also plug in some rocket boosters with energy effects in the same holes in his back.

Possibly the coolest accessory is the hinged spellbook, which clasps closed. Also, note it is filled with real paper pages, and each page has runes written in. On top of that, there’s a nice accessory that the book can sit in and then attach to the arm as if floating in front of Doctor Doom!

This is an impressive action figure. I can’t think of anything a superfan would want that’s missing here. Most importantly, using metal gives him extra weight and a nice, hefty feel that suits the greatest supervillain ever. Considering the Siphon Harness has light-up effects, it feels extra and luxurious, though the price seems a touch high. If you have the cash, it’s worthy of your collection.
