New video games worth playing for the week of 4/15/24

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Spring has sprung, and with it promises indie darlings and Triple A hits releasing week after week. This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best releases, but it’s off to a strong start so far.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Planet of Lana (4/16)

Platforms: PS4, PS5, and Switch

One of 2023’s best indie games finds itself going fully multiplatform this week when Planet of Lana releases on the Switch and PlayStation consoles. It’s a cinematic puzzle platformer with gorgeous visuals and a cinematic soundtrack. You’ll play as Lana as she attempts to rescue her community from alien invaders. Planet of Lana is perfect for bite-sized chunks on a handheld like the Switch or could be binged in one delightful session on a big screen.

Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide (4/18)

Platform: PS5

Last year’s Final Fantasy XVI receives its second DLC expansion with The Rising Tide. Clive is summoned to a new area, Mysidia, to rescue the Dominant of Leviathan, long lost Eikon of Water. He’s accompanied by a new ally, Shula, as he investigates the tragic history of Mysidia’s people. The Rising Tide is part of FFXVI‘s season pass (along with December’s Echoes of the Fallen) and will retail for $19.99 separately.

No Rest for the Wicked (4/18)

Platform: PC

Instead of creating a third Ori game, Moon Studios’ next project is a new IP: No Rest for the Wicked. Launching in early access for PC, No Rest for the Wicked is an isometric RPG with a focus on visceral and precise action. Early access will include the open chapters of the game and it will be updated with multiplayer and more content throughout its time in EA. Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions are also in development and will release in full at a later date.
