Courtesy of IDW, AIPT can share the news that The Boys co-creator and artist Darick Robertson will be taking on artist duties for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #5. He’ll also be doing variant covers on the series.
“When I was just starting in comics, black and white ‘funny animals’ comics were all the rage, all because of a silly named title that had grabbed everyone’s attention and had just launched a line of action figures,” Robertson told us via email. “The TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. My own original title, Space Beaver never achieved such lofty heights. And knowing Kevin Eastman a bit, over the decades, every time some new incarnation of this bizarre and wonderful property would find new life, I would smile, because I’ve never seen anyone so cool and gracious to his fans as Kevin.”
Robertson continued, “Jason Aaron and I have wanted to collaborate for years and with IDW and issue five of TMNT, we are finally getting our chance!
What? No, I’m not going to say that… NO!
Well,.. OK.
Cowabunga, dudes.”
To get in on the fun early, don’t forget to preorder Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 with your local comic shop (June 10th is the cutoff!). Check out a promo for Robertson’s issue below!
The series launches in July with a different artist on each issue. Those artists include Joëlle Jones for the first issue, followed by Rafael Albuquerque, Cliff Chiang, Chris Burnham, and with our exclusive news today, Darick Robertson following suit.
