Simu Liu, star of Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Barbie is joining another fan favorite franchise. As announced during San Diego Comic-Con, he will join the main voice cast of Gremlins: The Wild Batch, which is the title of the second season of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai.
Liu’s character is Chang, a “handsome, impossibly charming bootlegger” who is a member of a prominent family in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Through a chance meeting, Chang crosses paths with our protagonists Sam, Elle, and Gizmo and he serves as their guide in the American West as the trio track a new brood of evil Mogwai.
Liu isn’t the only new addition. Returning to the franchise is John Glover, who played eccentric billionaire, Daniel Clamp, in Gremlins 2: The New Batch. While not much was revealed regarding Glover’s guest role on the series, executive producers Tze Chun and Brendan Hay teased that audiences might get a sneak peek into the earlier generations of the Clamp family.
Other guest stars announced for the upcoming season were Michael Paul Chan, Ronny Chieng, Keith David, Will Forte, Kelly Hu and Jimmy O. Yang. Also revealed was the premiere date for season two.
Gremlins: The Wild Batch premieres October 3, 2024 on Max.
