We have a sports comedy and a pair of comic inspired series in this week’s Channel Surfing TV picks. Steph Curry tries his hand at acting in Mr. Throwback. See how it all ends in the final season of Umbrella Academy. Then, find out what happens after Mutant Mayhem in Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
An Unlikely Reunion
Steph Curry is an accomplished NBA player, world champion, and a current Olympian. Now, he’s looking to show off his talents off the court and flex his comedic chops in the new series, Mr. Throwback.
The story follows a sports memorabilia dealer (Adam Palley) who has hit rock bottom. In order to turn his luck around and earn redemption, he hopes to reconnect with a former teammate from way back in the sixth grade. That teammate happens to be Curry.
Mr. Throwback premieres Thursday, August 8, on Peacock.
Family Dysfunction
When we last left The Umbrella Academy, the Hargreeves siblings are able to save the day, but it comes at a great cost. Their actions reset the timeline while also stripping our heroes of their superpowers. Afterwards, they decide to go their separate ways.
In season four, their father, Reginald, is alive and overseeing an evil and powerful business empire. Meanwhile, a mysterious group known as The Keepers meet in secret to discuss how they believe the current reality is a lie. The team must come back together and confront these different forces and set things right.
Stream The Umbrella Academy season four beginning Thursday, August 8, on Netflix.
Cowabunga Dude!
The Heroes in a Half Shell are taking their exploits from the big screen during Mutant Mayhem to your television sets with the upcoming animated series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The gang have come out of hiding in the sewers. They want to live a normal teenage life in high school and pursue their own interests individually. Unfortunately, when a new threat arrives who wants to exterminate all mutants, the turtles must reunite to confront this danger.
Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launches Friday, August 9, on Paramount+.
