Violator: Origin #2 delivers another wild, twisted chapter in the life of Spawn’s most infamous nemesis, as writer Marc Andreyko and artist Kyle Hotz take us on a visually striking, darkly humorous ride. Once again, Violator breaks the fourth wall, injecting his mischievous tone into the narrative and giving readers a front-row seat to his demonic exploits.
This time, Violator finds himself in a dire situation: frozen in ice and stranded at sea in 793 A.D., only to be dragged ashore by a group of hooded men with a mysterious plan for the notorious demon. But the hooded men are the least of Violator’s problems, as he comes face-to-face with one of the most savage Spawns, Viking Spawn.
What I love most about this issue is that it showcases what Violator is best known for: his cunning, manipulation, and fantastic ability to outthink his opponents. In addition, Andreyko’s writing continues to shine, blending a great combination of dark humor with moments of genuine tension. Hotz’s gritty and highly detailed art brings the grim atmosphere to life. Hotz’s line work is gory, hard hitting and everything you want to see in a Violator story.
Violator: Origin #2 offers another dazzling, unpredictable journey, showcasing Violator’s hellish ways while keeping the book fun, interesting, and violent. Andreyko and Hotz continue to craft a thrilling and darkly entertaining chapter that perfectly balances humor and horror in true Spawn fashion. I highly recommend checking it out.
