Creepshow Vol. 3 #3 review

Creepshow doesn’t just tap into nostalgia, it reinvents it.

Image Comics’ Creepshow Volume 3  continues with two unsettling tales of terror, one about twisted obsession, and the other, nosy internet cops. Writers Chris Condon (That Texas Blood) and John Arcudi (B.P.R.D.) team up with artists Martín Morazzo (Ice Cream Man) and Shawn McManus (Fables) to deliver stories that go full throttle into the eeriness we expect from a Creepshow story.

First up, we’ve got “The Murder Variant” by Condon and Morazzo. Every nerd can attest to wanting to get a steal of a deal on a comic book holy grail. And every nerd out there has that one friend or relative who thinks comic book collecting is dumb or pointless. Condon perfectly captures what happens when you mix the two and shows just how far someone might go for their obsession. Morazzo’s art? Insanely brilliant making every panel scream with tension, making you want to flip the page while dreading what’s next.

Then there’s “True-ish Crime” by Arcudi and McManus. This one’s for all the fans of true crime podcast and TV shows. Two wannabe internet detectives think they’ve cracked a murder case, only to realize something way more diabolical is at play. Arcudi’s writing is sharp, taking shots at the true crime-obsessed internet culture while sneaking in some wicked twists. McManus nails the grounded vibe, keeping the characters real and the horror believable.

Creepshow Vol. 3 #3 feels like a late night horror flick you can’t stop watching. It’s another strong entry in the series. Creepshow doesn’t just tap into nostalgia, it reinvents it, giving us horror that’s as smart as it is sinister. Fans of both Creepshow and horror comics in general, this is for you.
