In recent years, there has been a real effort to make gaming a more inclusive community, particularly for individuals with disabilities. There have been a number of adaptive controllers developed that have a degree of customization to better cater towards a person’s needs. The NEX Generation_Single Hand Controller looks to be the next promising iteration in the field.
The top of the NEX Generation_Single Hand Controller has an analog joystick and a series of buttons for gameplay. On the other side are more buttons and a second analog joystick, which could be handy when partaking in first-person shooters. With the device, a person could move and aim using only one hand.
The controller is ergonomic with easy finger access to the buttons and joystick on both sides. It can seem awkward at first due to the unconventional layout, but like anything, with a little practice and use, there shouldn’t be a problem to get accustomed to it. In fact, one of the development engineers admitted his preference to the device over standard controllers when gaming.
The NEX Generation_Single Hand Controller is versatile as it’s compatible with the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Switch. The technology is a CES Innovation Award 2025 Honoree in Gaming & eSports. A worthy accolade for something that can open up even more genres of video games for people with disabilities. With no official release date yet, however, consumers will have to wait a bit until they can get ahold of the NEX Generation_Single Hand Controller.
