New year, new video games. There are dozens of huge games we can’t wait to get out hands on in 2025, including plenty of indies we’ll want to sink our teeth into. Great games are releasing one after the other, so let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Sniper Elite: Resistance (1/30)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S
Sniper Elite: Resistance spins out from Sniper Elite 5 and tells a parrel story to it during World War II. With an expansive arsenal, including your trusty customizable sniper rifle, you’ll take great pleasure in sniping Nazis from afar, especially with the series trademark x-ray kill cam. Collectible propaganda posters will unlock time-based missions, and enjoy online PvP and PvE modes with friends.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (1/30)
Platform: PC
One of 2023’s best games swings onto PC this week. Spider-Man 2 continues the story of Peter and Miles as they grow as Spider-Men, this time with Harry Osborne, Kraven the Hunter, and the symbiote suit joining the fray. It refined the gameplay of the prior entries and added even more abilities for the heroes. Both the first game and the Miles Morales spin-off are verified for Steam Deck, but there’s no word yet if Spider-Man 2 will be playable on the go.
Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (1/31)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S
It’s the week of sequels as Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector‘s launch closes out January. Building upon the first game, Starward Vector is a tabletop-inspired RPG where your choices and the rolls of the dice will determine your fate. You’ll play as a sleeper, a human consciousness in a robotic body, on the run from the people who created you. Recruit allies aboard your ship as you take on risky contracts across an asteroid belt.
Also worth checking out: Hello Kitty Island Adventure (on Switch and PC), The Stone of Madness, Achilles: Survivor (PC early access), Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, and Eternal Strands.
