In a report first published by IGN, EA and Cliffhanger Studios’ called off the upcoming Black Panther video game. The Marvel game’s cancellation was the result of EA shutting down Cliffhanger Studios only a mere two years after its formation.
The Black Panther game wasn’t the only casualty of Cliffhanger Studios’ closure. The company, run by Kevin Stephens (former head of Monolith Studios), was supposed to collaborate with Marvel on two additional projects. One game was supposed to feature Iron Man and the other was never confirmed.

Black Panther and two other Marvel projects scrapped
According to IGN, this was revealed in an email EA Entertainment president, Laura Miele, sent out to the studio’s staff. She explained that the reason behind this major change was because they wanted to spend their time and energy on games that would better benefit EA. She acknowledged that this was not an easy decision and one that they took very seriously.
Miele stated in her email that she knows that these changes “affect people we’ve worked with, learned from, and shared real moments with.” She further elaborated, “We’re doing everything we can to support them — including finding opportunities within EA, where we’ve had success helping people land in new roles.”
