Welcome back to another edition of Fantastic Five, where we shout out the very best comics of the week! This week sees Godzilla vs. a god, a stunning revelation, and a lot more. Let’s get to the books!
Best comics of the week: July 2, 2025
#5: Gehenna Naked Aggression #1
Gehenna: Naked Aggression #1 is a blood-soaked, high-octane thrill ride that lives and dies by its visuals, and it absolutely lives. With jaw-dropping art, tight pacing, and a raw, revenge-fueled tone, this debut delivers pure action comic bliss, though its grindhouse aesthetic may not be for everyone. Think John Wick meets Faster Pussycat Kill Kill meets The Professional.

#4: Batgirl #9
Batgirl #9, ye or nay? Mostly, ye. I think the Jade Tiger reveal is gonna massively turn some heads, and I fully predict the fandom environment will never be the same again. A long lost relative of a massively popular character – a BATMAN character no less – is a huge deal. I think this could go well, or go over like a gasoline factory on fire, entirely depending on how the following issues choose to explore the notion. Very tenuous ground this issue is walking to be sure. For the good? For the bad? We shall see. But it’s Cass, so I’m happy either way.
#3: Sisterhood: A Hyde Street Story #1
Sisterhood: A Hyde Street Story #1 isn’t just the beginning of another expansion in the Hyde Street universe; it’s an emotional gut punch to boot. If this series is a success, I hope Hyde Street continues to give its other residents their own stories.

#2: Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma #4
‘Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma’ #4 is about breaking the cycle
Whether it’s superheroism and sorcery, life and death, or altruism and self-interest, Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma #4 is a story about balance. And while there might be two issues left, there’s plenty of room to keep exploring that dynamic.
